Built on Legacy. Driven by Performance.
Since 1987, Slayden Door & Hardware has been a trusted commercial openings partner across Middle Tennessee. What began as a family-founded business in Nashville has grown into a leading provider of complete door and hardware solutions—built on a foundation of integrity, expertise, and long-standing relationships.
We provide comprehensive commercial opening solutions, managing every phase from specification through final inspection. Our work spans healthcare, education, government, hospitality, and retail environments, where performance, safety, and compliance are critical. Every opening we deliver is designed to function seamlessly—secure, reliable, and built to last.
Our ability to perform at a high level is strengthened by partnerships with industry-leading manufacturers, including ASSA ABLOY, dormakaba, and Hager Companies. These relationships, combined with the experience of our team, allow us to work in close coordination with contractors, architects, and facility managers—minimizing risk, avoiding delays, and ensuring confidence at every stage of a project.
More than three decades later, our approach remains unchanged. We show up. We stand behind our work. And we treat every project with the level of care and attention it deserves.
Our Story
Slayden Door & Hardware was founded on May 1, 1987, in the Nashville home of Claude and Carolyn Slayden. In the early days, Claude spent his time building relationships with customers while Carolyn managed the business from the kitchen table. It was a modest beginning, but one grounded in determination and a clear vision for what the company could become.
That vision quickly took hold. Within months, the company moved into a small trailer on Murfreesboro Road, and growth continued steadily in the years that followed. Key team members joined early, strengthening the foundation and positioning the company for expansion into larger facilities as demand increased.
In 2000, the company faced a defining moment when founder Claude Slayden was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer. Following his passing in 2001, he left behind more than a successful business—he left a standard of integrity, work ethic, and commitment that continues to guide the company today.
The years that followed brought both growth and challenge. In 2008, Hal assumed full ownership, and the next generation of leadership began to take shape with Tyler Slayden joining the company. Just two years later, historic flooding in Nashville caused significant damage to operations and inventory. Through resilience, strong partnerships, and a steadfast commitment to their customers, the company recovered and moved forward with renewed strength.
In 2016, Slayden Door & Hardware expanded into a larger facility in LaVergne, Tennessee—an investment in the future and a reflection of continued growth.
Today, while the company continues to evolve, its foundation remains firmly in place. A commitment to quality. Trusted partnerships. And a standard of service built on the same determination that started around a kitchen table in 1987.
