Company History

Slayden Door and Hardware commenced operations on May 1, 1987, at the residence of Claude and Carolyn Slayden in Nashville, TN. Claude would prepare to meet with customers, while Carolyn managed incoming calls, eagerly anticipating business opportunities. Within approximately three months, they relocated to a small trailer on Murfreesboro Road in Nashville. In September 1987, Don Harwell joined the team. As their enterprise expanded, they soon outgrew the trailer and, in 1989, relocated to Space Park South.

During the summer of 1990, Claude Slayden, Jr. (Hal), joined the company. With the addition of more employees, they required additional space. In 1994, they moved to a significantly larger area within Space Park, expecting long-term occupancy.

Unfortunately, on September 28, 2000, Claude received a devastating diagnosis of inoperable brain cancer. On June 4, 2001, he passed away, leaving behind significant responsibilities.
Hal and Don stepped forward to lead the business, along with their dedicated employees. In May 2008, Hal assumed ownership of the business from Don. Tyler Slayden also joined the team that year.

Then, on May 10, 2010, a catastrophic flood struck, submerging much of their inventory. This flood, the largest in Nashville and its surrounding areas, posed a substantial challenge. However, through collective efforts, they successfully navigated this crisis.

In 2016, Hal acquired a spacious building in LaVergne, TN. Although it will take time to fully utilize the new space, the business is thriving.”

Hal the owner is top notch .One of the best in the business. All the workers there from the hot secretary all the way to the new guy with long hair (who keeps that warehouse damn near spotless everytime I visit) are great people & hard workers with the same goal. To keep the customers happy by providing people like my self with great service and great product . I’ve done jobs which have needed one single door knob and I’ve done jobs that have needed 14 frames doors and all the hardware and they have came through every time.
A big thank you to Hal and the crew.
Keep those frames coming.
