What You’ll Do

As the Senior Project Manager, you’ll be at the heart of daily operations – managing commercial door and hardware projects with confidence, precision, and a customer-first mindset.  You’ll coordinate closely with contractors and customers, manage budgets and timelines, and ensure seamless delivery and installations of door and hardware systems using advanced tools such as VT Online and Comsense.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project planning, quoting, phasing, and full-cycle execution
  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients, general contractors, architects, and internal teams
  • Organize and coordinate door and hardware schedules and delivery logistics
  • Review project documentation and sales sheets to confirm quantities, pricing, and specifications
  • Produce accurate shop drawings and schedules using Comsense and VT Online software
  • Analyze blueprints and specs to ensure compliance with UL, ADA, and life safety codes
  • Solve technical and logistical challenges in real time
  • Lead all phases of the project lifecycle – from initial client engagement through close-out including:
    • Conducting site walks and client consultations
    • Developing detailed scopes of work and construction strategies
    • Creating and presenting accurate estimates for client approval
    • Sourcing and ordering materials
    • Issuing RFIs and RFPs to subcontractors
    • Preparing comprehensive bid submittals and overseeing final ordering
    • Managing detailed project scheduling and daily oversight
    • Coordinating subcontractor activities and job site operations
    • Administering change orders and  managing project documentation
    • Handling invoicing and ensuring timely payment
    • Executing project close-out procedures and final client handoff
    • Work together with contractors during the bid process to secure new work
  • Review scopes of work and construction plans to develop accurate takeoffs and cost estimates
  • Collaborate with and mentor Project Engineers, reviewing their work as needed
  • Contribute to cross-trained, collaborative team culture with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, communication, and client satisfaction

What You Bring

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the door and hardware industry, project management, estimating and detailing Division 8 commercial ground up projects
  • Ability to read blueprints and perform takeoffs with technical accuracy
  • Strong grasp of commercial codes (UL, ADA, life safety, etc…)
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Attention to detail with a solutions-first mindset and ability to thrive under pressure
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelor’s Degree a plus)
  • Must be able to lift 15 lbs and work at a computer for extended periods of time

What You’ll Do:

The Project Manager  position is responsible for coordinating projects with customers including material phasing, pre-installation and delivery.  This position requires an individual to have a detailed quality oriented mind in order to coordinate with contractors / customers, ultimately  meeting the company’s production and quality goals.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze contractor/customer needs in order to create a quote. 
  • Direct and coordinate all project activities in order to ensure deadlines are met on time and within budget. 
  • Effectively communicate with the contractor/customer throughout the entire project. 
  • Knowledge of technical aspects of the business in order to resolve any problems with the project.
  • If assigned a Project Engineer, then all Project Engineer’s work must be reviewed and approved. 
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently while also demonstrating a willingness to work within a team environment
  • Willingness to cross train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position.

What You’ll Do
As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll play a key role in helping ensure our projects run smoothly from start to finish. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Project Coordination – Assist Project Managers in planning, organizing, and executing construction projects from start to finish.
  • Stakeholder Communication – Serve as a liaison between contractors, suppliers, and internal teams to keep projects on track.
  • Document Management – Prepare, review, and maintain project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, and contracts ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Change Order Processing – Track and process change orders, ensuring approvals and clear communication with all parties.
  • Scheduling & Budget Tracking – Help develop project schedules and monitor budgets, identifying variances and providing updates as needed.
  • Material & Equipment Sourcing – Work with vendors to procure necessary materials and resolve any supply chain challenges.
  • Quality & Compliance – Ensure projects meet safety standards, building codes, and company policies.

What You’ll Do

As our Detailer you will be responsible for the detailing of project in preparation for submittals and shop drawings for hollow metal, wood doors and Division 8 related finish hardware.

Key Responsibilities:

● Prepare all Detailing/Submittals for All Project Managers within SDH.

● Review internal sales instructions and contract documents to understand scope of work and contractual obligations.

● Ensure all specs written are designed with the appropriate solutions for the facility and the specific functions of the end user.

● Ensure all specifications meet relevant building codes and local codes that are applicable to the project.

● Analyze project contract documents for doors, frames and hardware for any errors or options that can affect the project prior to sending the job out for approval.

● Review sales sheets and job requirements as sold by the Estimating Department and address any variances between detailed and estimated costs.

● Coordination with Project Managers, as required, to clarify project details in order to provide accurate submittal and product purchasing details.

● Prepare required drawings for elevations and corresponding sections as necessary using company issued software.

● Review project quotes and pricing during submittal process to confirm accuracy and most profitable resource available.

What You Bring:

● AHC Certification preferred

● 8+ years experience in the commercial door and hardware industry preferred.

●Experience in blueprint/plan reading; Specification interpretation

● Comsense Opening Suites experience preferred

● Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

What You’ll Do:

The Estimator  position is responsible for reviewing data in order to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists.  This position requires an individual to have a detailed quality oriented mind in order to coordinate with contractors / customers, ultimately  meeting the company’s production and quality goals.   

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compute cost factors, margins, and prepare estimates used for purposes such as planning, organizing and scheduling 
  • Identify material cost trends to assist in cost reduction and process improvement
  • Ability to stay up to date with Market and competitor trends resulting in  more accurate pricing
  • Coordinate with contractors/customers regarding estimates and scope of work
  • Ability to come in early or work late depending on the customer’s needs. 
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently while also demonstrating a willingness to work within a team environment
  • Willingness to cross train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position.

What You’ll Do

As a Skilled Carpenter, you will play a hands-on role on our wood door shop fabricating commercial wood doors from start to finish – measuring, cutting, and inspecting each door to meet Slayden’s quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements, using hand tools, machines or power tools.
  • Read and interpret shop drawings, templates, and blueprints
  • Prep doors for hardware application – sanding, trimming, and smoothing surfaces to spec
  • Perform quality checks on finished products
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently while also demonstrating a willingness to work within a team environment
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop environment
  • Follow safety protocols and OSHA standards

What You Bring

  • Attention to detail
  • 3+ years commercial carpentry experience
  • Wood door experience preferred
  • Good communication skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds at a time
  • Prolonged periods of lifting, reaching bending, twisting and standing
  • Work environment has moderate noise levels
  • Typical environment in warehouse
